Creating a dynamic outdoor setting for classroom instruction in science, math, environmental studies, nutrition and art.
The Broadmor School Garden/The Learning Patch was started in 2011 and continues to be a work in progress. The Learning Patch's mission is to create and sustain a dynamic outdoor setting for classroom instruction in science, math, environmental studies, nutrition and art; provide an enduring meeting place for the Broadmor community to share ideas and work together in the design, planting and harvesting of plants; and advocate for an understanding of natural food systems, healthy food choices and environmental stewardship.
Currently, beds are planted, seeds are growing and students are experiencing the wonders of learning in an outdoor classroom. The Learning Patch is powered by the energy and elbow grease of volunteer parents, community members, students and teachers. If you want to get involved, come to one of our garden work days or just stop by to see what is growing. We happily accept donations (seeds, plants, garden supplies, etc.).
