Bike Cats mission: to promote bike recreation safety and advocacy for Broadmor students and families, while also welcoming other school and community weekend recreational riders. Bike Cats encourages the family love of bike riding and incorporates bike safety tips and fosters essential bike skills. Through organized rides each month, volunteers show safe routes to school and other prime biking sites around Tempe.
The program was awarded the 2017 Bike Hero Award by the City of Tempe. Broadmor Librarian Polly Baldwin, "I’m so excited to be a part of a program that encourages our kids to be outside, active and riding bikes. Each year we’re able to touch more and more families through our Bikecats community, creating more and more future Tempe bike advocates.”
The program was launched in 2010 by Broadmor parent Jason Franz. Today, the program is managed by parent volunteers.
